Jen’s Favorites

I have been battling a stomach bug/sickness all week so my current favorites are my new Ugg Slippers I got from Santa. They are so comfy and hold up very well. And I should know because I wear slippers pretty much 365 days a year.

Next on the list is a show that I know many people have talked about and obsessed about over social media, but This Is Us is truly an amazing show. I literally ugly cry every single episode. I am even more excited that they will be back for two more seasons!!! Binge watch to catch up, you won’t regret it.

Last for this week is a new perfume that I got a sample of in my December Birchbox that I really enjoy. I can’t use a lot of perfumes because even though they smell yummy they tend to give me a headache. This one smells great and no headache. It is a little on the pricier side but I noticed that the scent does last the entire day, which is not always the case with others. Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume

Wen’s Favorites 

I had surgery right before Christmas so I’ve been sitting on my butt for the past few weeks and my favorites reflect that.

For starters, Netflix is my BFF. I’ve watched Gilmore Girls, while drinking coffee of course; Breakfast At Tiffany’s, a classic that should be watched while sipping champagne and next up are some documentaries from this list. Drink TBD.

Since I’ve been doing a whole lot of lounging, I’m living in and loving my Lululemon Fresh Tracks Pant. The pants are a step up from sweats in that I can get away with wearing them on casual days at work. I’m sure if you run, they’re good for that too, but I wouldn’t know, I don’t run.

With winter here, it’s nothing but dry skin. My hands have been so dry and are desperate for a manicure. But in the meantime, I have mad love for L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream. I received the hand cream in the Winter Causebox subscription.

New Year’s Resolutions

If you all are like us it can be really challenging to stick to New Year’s Resolutions. We all have the best of intentions but then reality and life sets in and it never goes as well. This year the big thing for us is being intentional.

For me, this really means how do I want to spend my time. I have a full time job that takes a LOT of my time (including nights and weekends) and often leaves me exhausted. Then I have two little kids who want my attention 24/7 and then my husband and I need time together to keep our relationship strong. Then throw in chores around the house and kids activities and spending time with family and friends life gets chaotic. So if that means I have to say “No” to going to certain events then please know it isn’t because I don’t want to be there, rather I need to prioritize and give myself some slack. I need to re-shift my time and spend it where it makes me happy.

In the same line of thought I really want 2017 to be the year that I put my marriage higher on the list. It is so easy to put my marriage after my kids but I want to start being intentional about planning date nights and alone time to keep our connection strong. Even though while we are out on dates we will talk about the kids the entire time, just being together alone is much needed!

Oh and of course on my list is also to eat healthier. Isn’t that a yearly thing? I want to try and be more planful with meals. I want my kids to try and eat healthier (my daughter won’t eat a single fruit and will only eat corn for veggies). So it is definitely a challenge to make a well rounded meal that everyone will enjoy.

Working out. Ha. Assuming wine glass arm curls don’t count this is another area of focus. I want to get in better shape. It isn’t about losing pounds for me as it is feeling more physically fit. We got a treadmill for Christmas (insert sign of old age here!) and I have been trying to get more time on it. Even if that means just walking for 20 minutes between my meetings. Heck, already this year I tried Soul Cycle and let me tell you, I was sore for days. But, it was actually a great workout and I felt great that I did it.

So lets raise a glass (see I am technically doing an arm workout) and cheers to a productive and healthy 2017!
